Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 22, 2026 · Last Updated: May 22, 2026
Pawmi ("Pawmi," "we," "us," or "our") provides an AI-powered pet care app that helps pet parents organize records, manage reminders, track health and behavior, and receive personalized care insights for dogs and cats. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use the Pawmi mobile app, website, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). It also explains your privacy rights and choices.
1. Who We Are
Business: Three Point One Four (Sole Proprietorship)
Proprietor: Abhijeet Dagar
Contact Email: privacy@getpawmi.com
Support Email: support@getpawmi.com
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Pawmi acts as the data controller for personal data processed under this Privacy Policy, except where another party is identified.
2. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information we collect:
- when you create or use a Pawmi account;
- when you use our app and related features;
- when you upload pet records, photos, notes, or other content;
- when you interact with our AI-powered features;
- when you receive or manage push notifications;
- when you start, renew, restore, or cancel a paid subscription;
- when you contact us for support, report a bug, or request a feature;
- when you visit any Pawmi website or landing page that links to this Privacy Policy.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites, services, or applications that are not operated by us, even if they are linked from our Services.
3. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information, depending on how you use Pawmi.
A. Account and Contact Information
- email address;
- password or authentication credentials, handled through our authentication provider (Supabase);
- display name (optional, set by you in Profile);
- device timezone (automatically detected from your device and stored to your profile so reminders fire at your local time);
- account settings, notification preferences, and feature flags;
- support communications and feedback.
B. Pet Profile Information
- pet name;
- pet type (dog or cat — Pawmi supports cats and dogs only);
- breed;
- age or date of birth;
- sex;
- spay/neuter status;
- weight, weight unit, and weight logs over time;
- microchip ID (optional; used to help match uploaded records to the correct pet);
- behavioral traits and personality observations;
- pet photos and avatars.
Pawmi supports up to three (3) pet profiles per account.
C. Pet Care and Record Information
- reminders, routines, tasks, and scheduling data (including reminder repeat rules);
- notes, behavior observations, symptoms, and check-ins;
- medical records, prescriptions, vaccine records, vet reports, invoices, receipts, and similar uploaded documents;
- vaccination history entries you enter manually or that are derived from uploaded records (vaccine name, date given, next due date, source, notes);
- heat cycle tracker entries for intact female dogs (start date, end date, phase markers, observation notes);
- daily quick-log health signals (such as appetite, energy, activity, potty, mood, or sleep observations);
- care expense and bill data extracted from uploaded records;
- AI-generated summaries, parsed record fields, and health action suggestions derived from your content;
- symptom triage responses, follow-up chat sessions, and visual check results;
- the status of health follow-up actions suggested by Pawmi (such as whether a suggestion was approved, snoozed, or dismissed);
- Vet Report summaries generated locally on your device from your stored data.
D. User-Submitted Content
- photos you upload, including pet photos, document/record photos, and image-based health questions submitted for AI-powered visual analysis;
- text you enter into notes, prompts, support forms, and AI interactions;
- attachments (images or short videos, up to 25 MB) you choose to include with bug reports or feature requests.
E. Device, Usage, and Log Information
- device type, operating system, and native platform (Android or iOS, where applicable);
- app version;
- IP address and approximate location inferred from IP address;
- device timezone (IANA timezone identifier);
- crash data, diagnostics, and performance logs (collected via Sentry error monitoring on the web app when enabled — see Section 8);
- interaction events, feature usage, and timestamps necessary to run the app, enforce quotas, and debug issues.
F. Push Notification Information
- your Pawmi user ID, used as the external user identifier with our push provider so reminders can be sent to your devices;
- device push tokens managed by our push provider on your behalf;
- non-sensitive tags such as your platform (Android/iOS), your app version, and your plan tier (free, pro, or trial) sent to the push provider to help us deliver and debug notifications;
- your in-app notification preferences (whether push and reminder push are enabled);
- scheduling metadata (the local time and timezone a reminder is due, and an internal idempotency record so the same reminder is not sent twice).
Pawmi only sends reminder-type notifications today. Notification content is intentionally generic (e.g. "You have a pet care reminder") and does not include reminder titles, pet names, diagnoses, billing details, or other sensitive content.
G. Subscription and Billing Information
If you purchase a paid subscription (Pawmi Pro), we collect:
- subscription status, plan (monthly or yearly), entitlement, and product identifier;
- trial status and trial end date;
- subscription lifecycle events (such as initial purchase, renewal, cancellation, expiration, billing issue) delivered to us by our subscription provider (RevenueCat) via webhook;
- limited transaction metadata required for billing, fraud prevention, restoring purchases across devices, and customer support.
Payment card information is processed by the applicable app store (Google Play, and Apple App Store where iOS is supported) under their billing systems. Pawmi does not see or store your payment card number, CVV, or full payment instrument details.
H. Communications
- messages you send to support, including optional attachments;
- bug reports and feature requests submitted through the app;
- responses to surveys or feedback requests;
- email open or delivery metadata for service emails (authentication, account, security, billing).
I. Information From Third Parties
We may receive limited information from service providers that support authentication, analytics, payments, cloud storage, customer support, push notifications, and infrastructure. See Section 9.
4. Pet Information vs. Human Health Information
Pawmi collects and processes information about your pets, not about you as a medical patient. Pet health data — such as symptoms, vet records, weight logs, vaccinations, heat cycle entries, and behavior observations — is not classified as human health information under HIPAA or similar human-health privacy laws. However, we treat pet data with care and apply the same security, access control, and deletion practices we apply to your personal information.
5. Sensitive or High-Risk Data
Pawmi is designed for pet care, not human healthcare. We do not ask users to provide special category personal data about themselves unless they choose to include it in freeform content or support messages.
Because users may upload veterinary records, freeform notes, or photos, some content may incidentally contain sensitive or highly personal information. We ask users not to include unnecessary human medical or other sensitive personal information in freeform fields.
6. How We Use Information
We use personal information for the following purposes:
- to create and manage your account, including authenticating you and recovering your password;
- to provide the Services and core app functionality;
- to store, organize, and display pet profiles, reminders, records, notes, vaccinations, and heat cycle entries;
- to process and analyze uploaded pet records using AI-powered document parsing;
- to generate AI-powered insights, summaries, symptom guidance, visual checks, and follow-up suggestions;
- to generate Vet Report summaries locally from your stored data — these summaries are produced on your device and only leave your device if you choose to download, share, or send them;
- to match uploaded records to your pet profiles using identifiers such as pet name, species, and microchip ID for trust verification;
- to deliver reminder push notifications at your local time when you have opted in;
- to track daily health signals, weight trends, vaccination status, heat cycle history, and care spending from your logged data;
- to personalize app content based on your pet profile and usage context;
- to enforce usage quotas, manage subscription tiers, and provide trial functionality;
- to process subscriptions, renewals, restorations, cancellations, and refunds through our subscription and store providers;
- to provide customer support, respond to inquiries, and triage bug reports and feature requests;
- to secure the Services, prevent abuse, and detect fraud or misuse;
- to maintain, troubleshoot, debug, and improve the Services, including through error monitoring (Sentry) on the web app;
- to send service-related messages such as account, security, billing, reminder, or support communications;
- to comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
We do not use Pawmi's AI features as a substitute for veterinary care, and any AI outputs are intended for informational and organizational support only.
7. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK/Switzerland)
If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we process personal data under one or more of the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract: to provide the Services you request, including account creation, record storage, reminders, vaccination tracking, heat cycle tracking, subscription processing, and AI-enabled features.
- Legitimate interests: to secure, maintain, improve, and analyze the Services; prevent fraud; develop features; and provide customer support, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Consent: where required by law, including certain marketing communications, optional cookies, or device permissions such as camera, photo library, or notifications.
- Legal obligation: where processing is necessary to comply with applicable law, lawful requests, accounting requirements, or regulatory obligations.
8. AI and Automated Processing
Pawmi uses automated systems and AI models to analyze pet-related content such as notes, uploaded records, symptoms, and photos in order to generate organizational, informational, and follow-up outputs.
These systems may:
- extract structured fields from uploaded documents;
- summarize records and identify care-relevant data such as medications, vaccines, and diagnoses;
- suggest reminders or health follow-up actions;
- provide symptom guidance, follow-up chat, or visual check outputs (including breed/appearance identification, document/label reading, and health-concern checks for photos);
- personalize recommendations based on pet profile information and prior inputs;
- verify record identity using pet name, species, and microchip ID matching.
Visual Ask routing. When you submit a photo for Visual Ask, Pawmi classifies your question. Photos sent for general identification or document/label reading are processed transiently — the uploaded image is deleted after analysis and the result is not added to the Health tab. Photos sent for a health concern are saved to your pet's visual check history alongside the AI output, so you can review them later.
Third-Party AI Providers
To provide AI-powered features, Pawmi sends relevant portions of your content — such as uploaded documents, symptom descriptions, pet photos, and contextual pet profile information — to third-party AI model providers for processing. These providers process your content to generate outputs that are returned to Pawmi and stored within your account where applicable.
Current AI provider: OpenAI (OpenAI, L.L.C.), using the GPT-4o-mini model via commercial API. We select providers with commercial API terms that generally restrict the use of submitted content for model training.
AI Provider Data Retention
Our AI providers may retain submitted content for a limited period (typically up to 30 days) for abuse monitoring, safety, and legal compliance purposes, in accordance with their own data handling policies. We do not authorize AI providers to use your content for model training.
Limitations
Pawmi's AI outputs are intended to support pet parents, not to replace a veterinarian. AI outputs may be incomplete, incorrect, or inappropriate for your specific situation. You should use independent judgment and contact a licensed veterinarian for diagnosis, treatment, or urgent medical concerns.
AI features may occasionally be unavailable, delayed, or fail to produce results due to service disruptions, provider outages, or technical issues. AI features are subject to per-tier daily and monthly usage quotas.
We do not use Pawmi to make legally significant decisions about users. If we later introduce features involving more consequential automated decision-making, we will update this Privacy Policy as required.
9. How We Share Information
We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients:
A. Service Providers / Processors
We share information with vendors that help us operate the Services. Current key service providers include:
- Supabase (Supabase Inc.) — authentication, database, cloud storage, and serverless function infrastructure.
- OpenAI (OpenAI, L.L.C.) — AI model inference for record parsing, symptom analysis, chat, and visual checks.
- OneSignal (OneSignal Inc.) — push notification delivery on Android and (where supported) iOS. OneSignal receives your Pawmi user ID, device push tokens, and limited non-sensitive tags (platform, app version, plan tier).
- RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) — subscription and billing management, including delivering subscription lifecycle webhook events to Pawmi.
- Google Play Billing (Google LLC) — payment processing for Android purchases; payment card information is handled entirely by Google and is not stored by Pawmi.
- Apple App Store / In-App Purchase (Apple Inc.) — payment processing for iOS purchases where iOS is supported; payment card information is handled entirely by Apple and is not stored by Pawmi.
- Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) — opt-in error monitoring and crash reporting for the web app. Sentry is configured with session replay disabled and personally identifiable information (PII) collection disabled by default.
- Brevo (Sendinblue SAS) — transactional email delivery for authentication and account communications.
- Vercel (Vercel Inc.) — web app hosting and deployment.
We may also use additional providers for analytics, customer support, and security in the future. Service providers are authorized to process information on our behalf only as necessary to provide services to us and are subject to contractual restrictions.
B. Corporate Transactions
We may disclose information in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar transaction.
C. Legal and Safety Disclosures
We may disclose information where necessary to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or government request; enforce our Terms of Service and other agreements; protect the rights, safety, property, and security of Pawmi, our users, pets, or others; or investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
D. With Your Direction
We may share information when you instruct us to do so or otherwise consent. For example, if you use the Vet Report feature to generate a summary or export your vaccination timeline and share it with your veterinarian or another person, you are directing that disclosure.
10. Sale, Sharing, and Targeted Advertising
Pawmi does not sell personal information in exchange for money.
Pawmi does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under applicable California law, unless and until we explicitly state otherwise and provide any required rights or opt-out mechanisms.
If Pawmi later introduces ad-tech, retargeting, or cross-context behavioral advertising, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any legally required notices and controls.
11. International Transfers
Pawmi may process and store information in countries other than the country where you live, including the United States, where our infrastructure providers operate. Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards for international data transfers, such as contractual protections (including Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable) or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
12. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the Services, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
In general:
- account data is retained while your account is active;
- pet profiles, records, notes, reminders, vaccination entries, heat cycle entries, and related data are retained until you delete them or close your account, unless retention is required by law;
- AI-generated outputs (such as parsed record summaries, symptom assessments, chat sessions, and visual check analyses) are retained alongside the source content they were derived from and are deleted when you delete the associated record, session, or your account;
- AI usage logs (tracking quota consumption per feature) are retained while your account is active and deleted upon account deletion;
- subscription billing lifecycle events from RevenueCat are retained for as long as your account is active or as required for billing, tax, and audit purposes;
- push notification send-attempt records are retained for a short period for idempotency and debugging;
- support and operational logs may be retained for a limited period for security, debugging, fraud prevention, and compliance;
- backups may persist for up to 30 days before being overwritten.
13. Account and Data Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and associated data through the in-app "Delete Account" feature (Profile → Your Data → Delete Account) or by contacting us at privacy@getpawmi.com.
When you delete your account through the app, Pawmi permanently deletes:
- all pet profiles;
- all records, notes, reminders, vaccination entries, heat cycle entries, symptom sessions, chat sessions, visual checks, health actions, quick logs, and weight logs associated with your pets;
- uploaded files stored in Pawmi's cloud storage;
- AI-generated outputs associated with your data;
- your notification preferences and your binding with the push notification provider;
- your authentication account.
Deletion is subject to limited exceptions: information we must retain to comply with law (including billing and tax records); security, fraud-prevention, or abuse-prevention logs; backup copies retained for up to 30 days before permanent overwrite; and records needed to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Once you delete your account, you can sign up again with the same email address after the deletion grace period completes. If you encounter any problem deleting your account through the app, contact us at support@getpawmi.com and we will complete the deletion for you.
14. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know whether we process your personal information;
- access personal information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete personal information;
- obtain a portable copy of certain information (you can download a JSON export of your account from Profile → Export My Data);
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- opt out of certain marketing communications;
- lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
California Rights
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know the categories of personal information we collect, use, disclose, sell, or share; access specific pieces of personal information; request deletion or correction; limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information where applicable; opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; and not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@getpawmi.com or use any in-app rights tool we make available. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request.
15. Notice at Collection for California Residents
At or before the time of collection, Pawmi collects the categories of personal information described in Section 3 of this Privacy Policy for the business and commercial purposes described in Section 6. We retain the categories of personal information described above for the periods described in Section 12.
Pawmi does not sell personal information for money and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising unless explicitly stated otherwise.
16. Cookies, SDKs, and Similar Technologies
Our website and app may use cookies, SDKs, and similar technologies for authentication, security, error monitoring, and feature performance.
The Pawmi app uses browser local storage to persist preferences and session-related state on your device. This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers except as part of normal app operation.
Where required by law, we will request consent before using non-essential cookies or similar technologies. You can manage certain device permissions and settings through your device or browser. Disabling some technologies may affect functionality.
17. Push Notifications and Device Permissions
If enabled, Pawmi may request device permissions such as:
- Camera — to photograph pet records for AI parsing, capture pet photos for visual health checks and AI-powered observational analysis, and upload profile photos;
- Photo library — to select existing photos for upload;
- File / Document picker — to upload PDFs, scanned documents, and other record files;
- Notifications — to deliver reminders and service communications on supported native platforms.
You can revoke device permissions at the operating-system level and can turn push notifications on or off inside Pawmi (Profile → Push Notifications). Disabling permissions may limit related features.
18. Security
We use reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including user-scoped row-level security (RLS) policies, encrypted connections, authenticated API access, server-side function authorization, and segregation of secret keys (push provider REST keys, subscription webhook secrets, and AI API keys are held server-side and are never exposed to the app). However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
19. Children
Pawmi is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information in violation of applicable law, contact us at privacy@getpawmi.com and we will take appropriate steps.
If additional age thresholds apply in your jurisdiction (such as 16 in certain EU member states), we will comply with applicable law.
20. Third-Party Services
Our Services may contain links to third-party services or integrate with third-party providers. Their privacy practices are governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.
21. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice as required by law, such as by posting the updated version in the app or on our website, or by other appropriate means.
